Read this before reposting your content
Written newsletters, articles, books, or even email series? Upcycle them.
Thinking about reposting existing content to get more bang for your buck?
Read this first.
If you're thinking about reposting social to social, ie. recycling a LinkedIn post as a Substack Note, or taking an Instagram Reel to Shorts, nothing to do here!
But if you're thinking about repurposing long-form content from one site to another, eg.
Copy+pasting a website blog into a LinkedIn article,
Making a LinkedIn newsletter into a Substack, or
Pitching a Substack as a guest post on someone else's site...
Make sure you:
Include a disclaimer and link back to the original content.
Here’s an example text:
This blog was originally published on {LINK} and adapted to this platform.
If you DON'T do this, the Google bots get angry.
They mark the second iteration as spammy.
Moreover, linking to the original is a nice little backlink, especially off high-authority sites like LinkedIn and Substack.
