Excellent clarification! Content strategist is another one. I often do all three in my retainer roles.

Yes another one! I think we’re all confused about roles…

A friend was asking me what her new role between Sr Manager and Head of Content should be, and was leaning toward “Lead” but I said “Director” because a Head is like a Chief to me, and a Lead is entry level.

We all have such different ideas. What’s your thought on that position Lee?

Love the distinction here. As you mentioned I’ve worn both hats. In fact, I wasn’t aware they were separate roles. From my continuous job post reading I see all of these qualities described in one role like marketing assistant, brand manager, or social media manager. I like to think they would be valued as separate roles but it doesn’t seem to be so in most cases.

I absolutely know that many companies mush the two into one role, which is why we’re all confused! And in fairness, that’s fine in small companies. You’re spot on that they should be valued as separate roles, because beyond the skills being completely different, the workload of each of those jobs is enormous.

A content cat can dream! One day we’ll be hired for one job at a time ;)
